Meet Dr. Louis Hardy

Being an orthodontist is more than just a career; it enables me to play a small role in my patients’ lives. I’m able to build lasting friendships while maintaining a healthy balance of family and community. What I do gives people confidence, increases their self-esteem, and improves their health.

Living and working in a small community means I get to see my patients in the office and around the area, at sporting and community events, school functions, and on the street. I am glad to be part of their lives, to share in their accomplishments and keep up with each person’s achievements in school, work, and personal lives.

I am passionate about perfection: I strive to ensure each patient finishes the orthodontic experience with an incredible, lasting smile … one that he or she will love for a lifetime!

EDUCATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science in biology – University of Maine
  • Doctorate of Dental Medicine, magna cum laude – Tufts University School of Dental Medicine
  • Graduate orthodontic residency, University of Pennsylvania

I’m a firm believer that healthcare practitioners owe it to themselves as well as their patients to stay current on changes in their field. I am always learning, through continuing education, in order to practice the latest and most efficient, effective, and comfortable techniques. Continuing education enables me to grow and provide the best possible care.

I attend many local, regional, and national orthodontic and dental meetings every year. Taking courses at these gatherings keeps me abreast of new techniques, technologies, and materials. My patients can be assured they’re going to receive leading-edge care!

PERSONAL LIFE

I’m a Bangor native and now live in Veazie with my wife and our Shiba Inu. My wife and I have raised three wonderful children: a son and two daughters, all of whom have finished college. Our son, Jameson, “Dr. Jamie,” has joined me in the practice.

When I’m not caring for patients, my passions are sports and travel. I love golf and time on the water. However, being with my family is my greatest passion. Any time we spend together is wonderful!

I derive a lot of personal and professional satisfaction from being part of the cleft palate team. The change our treatment effects in the lives of these children is remarkable. I very often see and care for these patients from infancy into their early 20s.
